ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Feb, 2018 ) :Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah Thursday said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government had increased the salaries of government employees up to 125 percent during its five years tenure.

Starting debate on Presidential address to the joint session of the Parliament, he said supremacy of the parliament should be ensured and all institutions should perform their duties within their constitutional domain.

He said supremacy of the parliament could be ensured by giving adequate time to the proceedings of two Houses by all parliamentarians including prime minster and minsters. The leader of the opposition regretted that the country was facing a number of challenges on the external front but they were not getting the required attention.

He said Pakistan had all the potential to become a developed country provided its resources were exploited judiciously and properly.

The growers of sugarcane were not being paid due prices of their products.

Middle man was paying sugarcane farmers only Rs90 per maund. Sindh government had fixed sugarcane price Rs160 per maund and middle man is paying Rs130 per maund. He said Rs40 per litre tax was being collected from petroleum products.

The PPP had provided financial assistance to 4.8 million people during their tenure. Chief of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Mehmood Khan Achakzai said, he was being portrayed as traitor. Certain tv anchors were leveling baseless allegations against him.

Such baseless allegations, he added pinched him very much. He asked the chair to allocate reasonable time to discuss horse trading allegations being leveled against Senate elections.
