Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Thursday said the PPP would introduce pro-peasant policies besides taking solid steps for eliminating poverty and improving living standard of the poor.
FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jul, 2018 ) :Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Thursday said the PPP would introduce pro-peasant policies besides taking solid steps for eliminating poverty and improving living standard of the poor.
Addressing a public gathering at Fowara Chowk Jaranwala near here, he said the PPP had presented a revaluation manifesto to redress problems of the masses.
He said the PPP always framed farmer-friendly policies but, unfortunately, the farming community was facing the toughest situation for the last many years. However, after coming to power, the PPP once again would provide the maximum incentives to the agriculture sector which would help mitigate hardships of the peasants.
He said growers would be provided Benazir Kisan Cards, under which special subsidy would be provided to overcome their financial constraints.
Bilawal said that all crops would be ensured so that farmers could not face unbearable financial loss in case of natural calamities.
He said that cane growers were also facing problems as mills were exploiting them by making unnecessary delay in their payments, however, the PPP would resolve this issue.
Bilawal said the PPP was the only party which was striving hard for elimination of poverty.
"In our last government, we introduced the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) which is recognised at global level as a revolutionary step for poverty elimination," he added.
He said the PPP would expand People's Poverty Reduction Programme (PPRP) across the country if the people voted and supported the PPP in general election. The PPRP had helped to drag out 800,000 families from poverty in Sindh, he added.
He said the PPP had planned to introduce "Bhook Mitao Programme" after coming to power and under this program food Cards would be issued besides opening Food Stores at union council level.
He said the PPP was still alive in the hearts of the people as party workers and activists in Chiniot, Faisalabad and Jaranwala accorded him rousing reception.
