Prime Minister Directs For Effective Implementation Of Ramadan Package

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday directed the authorities concerned for effective implementation of the Ramadan Package to ensure uninterrupted availability of food items at the government's determined prices
He also instructed that the administrative officials should remain vigilant and take swift action against hoarders and profiteers during the holy month of Ramadan.
The prime minister issued the directives while chairing a high level meeting on the 'Ramadan Package-2019' here at the PM Office. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Trade Abdul Razak Dawood, Adviser to the PM on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Special Assistant to the PM on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Asihq Awan, Special Assistant to the PM Yousaf Baig Mirza, PM's Spokesman Nadeem Afzal Chann, provincial ministers, chief secretaries, and senior officials attended the meeting.
The prime minister said the government was fully cognizant of the problems being faced by the people and it was making efforts to provide them maximum relief.
He said strong coordination among the provincial governments and continuous monitoring of the markets by the district administrations were of greater importance to maintain prices.
Imran Khan said he had already directed all the relevant ministries and departments to ensure supply of electricity, gas and water during Sehr and Iftar times. The authorities had also been instructed to remain vigilant regarding law and order during the holy month, he said.
The provincial ministers and chief secretaries apprised the prime minister about the steps taken by the provincial governments towards implementation of the package in letter and spirit.
Punjab Chief Secretary Yousuf Naseem Khokhar informed the meeting that more than 300 'Ramadan Bazaars' were being established in the province. The provincial government would give subsidy on 10 most essential food items, including flour, sugar, rice, grains, tomato, onion, lemon, ghee and gram flour (baisan) to maintain their prices at the level of last year, he added.
The prime minister was further informed that sugar and flour would be sold for Rs 55 per kilogram and Rs 290 per 10 kg respectively in Ramadan Bazaars.
KP Chief Secretary Mohammad Salim Khan briefed the meeting about the arrangements made by the provincial administration to set up Ramadan Bazaars.
The prime minister also directed the authorities to pay special attention in ensuring provision of standard food items in Ramadan Bazaars.
