Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Announces Compensation, Reward For Saviors In AJK Bridge Collapse Tragedy

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Thursday approved compensation for the family of a teenager who lost his life while saving tourists lives, following the collapse of a bridge in District Neelum, and reward for another youngster who risked his own life to save the victims
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st May, 2018 ) :Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Thursday approved compensation for the family of a teenager who lost his life while saving tourists lives, following the collapse of a bridge in District Neelum, and reward for another youngster who risked his own life to save the victims.
According to a PM Office statement, the prime minister approved immediate provision of Rs. 3 million to the parents of Saim Shafaat, son of Shafaat Hussain, and Rs. 1 million as reward to Mukhtiar son of Zeetullah in recognition of sacrifice and heroic efforts made during the unfortunate incident of bridge collapse in the Kundal Shai of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on May 13, 2018.
Saim Shafat, aged 12 years, sacrificed his life while making a heroic effort to warn tourists of the imminent collapse of the bridge. Mukhtiar son of Zeetullah risked his life to save two tourists from drowning during the same incident.
The prime minister has directed the Finance Division to immediately transfer the amount of Rs. 4 million to the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir for onward payment to the nominees.
