Private Sector Urged To Provide Jobs To Special Persons

KARACHI, Nov. 8 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Nov, 2016 ) : Sindh Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Shamim Mumtaz on Tuesday emphasized the private sector to provide jobs to special persons as quota fixed by the government.
Speaking at a meeting with members of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) during her visit to the chamber, the Minister said Sindh Government has raised employment quota for the disabled persons, which was introduced in 2014, from two percent to five percent and for minorities quota enhanced to five percent.
For women it had increased to 15 percent. All these revised quotas had been implemented in all the provincial departments. She said the private sector must contribute towards better society by providing jobs as per quota particularly to the disabled persons.
President KCCI Shamim Ahmed Firpo, Senior Vice President KCCI Asif Nisar, Vice President KCCI Muhammad Younus Soomro, Chairperson of KCCI's Special Committee for Women Entrepreneurs Ms. Durre Shahwar Nisar and KCCI Managing Committee members were also present.
Sindh Minister said that under Social Welfare department's policy for employment of disabled persons, if any organization was unwilling to recruit disabled persons due to any reason, it would have to submit minimum wages against such vacancies as per quota to the funds established at the Social Welfare department.
These funds were being utilized on numerous development projects for disabled persons in all parts of the province. She informed that the Social Welfare department was planning to construct a dedicated village for disabled persons and homeless children where food and shelter along with training will be provided whereas construction of a Shelter home was currently underway which will be completed by 2017.
Earlier, President KCCI Shamim Ahmed Firpo, in his remarks, emphasized to effectively implement the policies being introduced for the welfare of disabled persons. He informed that Karachi Chamber has provided jobs to such disabled people who were successfully discharging their duties for the Chamber whereas many of local companies, who also happen to be KCCI members, had provided jobs to special persons in their organizations.
