PTDC To Engage Youth In Tourism Promotional Activities

ISLAMABAD, Jan 6 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Jan, 2017 ) : Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) is planning to engage youth in tourism promotional activities in the country. This was stated by Managing Director Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Ch.
Abdul Ghafoor Khan during a meeting with representatives of private schools of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, said a press release. He said that students may be engaged in various outdoor learning experience which would not only provide tourism awareness but also an opportunity to enjoy fun and recreation and learn basic life skills like confidence, problems solving, communication and creativity.
Approximately 30,000 private schools are working in Pakistan where around 10 million children enrolled. Around 3 million children are not going school due to financial problems. He said efforts are underway to launch an exclusive 24-hour Pakistan Travel and Tourism Channel.
He added that to engage youth of Pakistan, PTDC has launched Pakistan Tourism Friends Club members of which may avail exclusive discounts on PTDC facilities and transport. "We are also going to sign MoUs with the Punjab University requesting them to introduce Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality to teach the subject of Tourism in B.

Degree Programme," Abdul Ghafoor said. PTDC is obtaining suggestion, feedback from tourists and visitors for betterment of its services at motels and tourists transport service. As the national tourism organization, our efforts to promote and develop tourism, especially in mountain areas of Pakistan are not hidden truth.
PTDC setup its resorts and motels in far-flung and remote mountain areas of Pakistan where public sector was shy to invest. As per previous practice PTDC is considering participating in international tourism and travel exhibitions in collaboration with Provincial tourism organizations, airlines, hoteliers and tour operators which not only creates awareness about Pakistan but also results in increase of tourist influx to the country.
He said that the participants and 30 kanals of land has been allotted to PTDC for construction of tourist facilities in Naltar. Civil Aviation has been requested to upgrade Gilgit, Skardu and Chitral airports so that larger number of flights can be operated from these touristically important cities.
