PTI Govt Depoliticizes Institutions Through Fast Track Reforms: Khattak

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th August, 2016) : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Pervaiz Khattak said the provincial government had introduced fast track reforms and made record legislation to discourage interference in public institutions and ensuring their smooth running. He was addressing a reception hosted by Chief Minister for the delegates of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), here at CM house, who are in the city for the biennial delegates meeting. He said PTI had pledged to masses that it would introduce reform and bring changes in the system.

The previous government used public institutions for their own benefits while the authorities who were made responsible for running them became corrupt and ignorant of their duties. He said the PTI led government made unprecedented legislation to make public institutions efficient and free of political interference, adding if PTI was voted into power again it would change the destiny of KP and its people. Pervaiz Khattak said policies of those who were at the helm of affairs in previous governments increased miseries of people by destroying public institutions.

He said goal of development and progress could only be achieved if institutions were augmented and provided autonomy to decide their own affairs. KP CM said provincial government accomplished the insurmountable task of changing the system according to aspirations and wishes of people.

He said we brought transparency in the system by introducing Right to Information Act and afterwards Access to Services Act was passed to ensure delivery to the complainant. He maintained that Conflict of Interest Law was also approved by the government to ensure smooth running of public departments. He informed that Whistle Blower Act would be tabled in next session of the assembly that would prove to be the last nail in the coffin of corruption.

30 percent of the recovery made from the corrupt would be given to the informer and his/her name would not be disclosed, he added. Regarding Ehtesab Commission, he said rumors regarding weakening of the commission were unfounded, adding in fact its Director General had been empowered by certain amendments.

Khattak said for the first time in the history of Pakistan, devolution had been made to the grass root level and 33 percent of the developmental budget had been handed over to local governments. He said the law and order situation had been improved significantly and police force was depoliticized and made authoritative through new Police Act.

A system of check and balance had also been activated in the police by the act. He said the provincial government had started recruitment under NTS System and established Counter Terrorism Department to enhance performance of police department. Keeping in view the need and requirement of students, Primary schools had been upgraded and 25000 new inductions of teachers was made so far, adding an independent monitoring unit had been established to evaluate the performance of teachers. He said as many as 13000 schools out of total 27000 schools were revamped which was an achievement of KP government aimed to improve education sector. Autonomy of public hospitals was a milestone success of KP government, Chief Minister said, adding in coming three months all the teaching institutes would be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and needed staff.

He said Sehat Ka Insaf Card was a welfare oriented step of PTI government that was helping 1.8 million poor in getting medical care faculties. Pervaiz Khattak said the condition of NOC had been abolished while attractive incentives were offered to the investors including concessions on machinery for the establishment of industrial units in KP.

He said life saving services of Rescue 1122 has been extended to 12 districts and its ambit would be increased to all the 24 districts of KP. He said provincial government had extended its all out support to journalists fraternity and made incessant efforts for resolution of their problems.

He urged the journalists to ignore rumors and evaluate the performance of PTI government by comparing its accomplishments with the achievements of previous governments.
