ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Oct, 2016 ) : Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday summoned Secretary Interior, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Chief Commissioner and District Magistrate on Thursday in petitions against the call of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) for shutting down the Federal capital.
Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui heard the cases filed by Tasleem Abbasi, Raja Maqsood Hussain, Faiz Ahmed Cheema and Muhabullah seeking to stop the PTI from shutting down Islamabad. Anam ur Raheem advocate, counsel for the petitioner, informed the court that PTI chief Imran Khan was a proclaimed offender in the Parliament House and ptv attack case and he was violating Article 5 of the Constitution.
Justice Saddiqui remarked that holding protest was the right of every political party but it should not violate the basic rights of citizens.
Anamur Raheem argued said the students of capital's colleges and schools were busy in taking examinations, who would be affected by the PTI's protest.
Similarly, patients would also face hurdles in reaching hospitals if the city was closed down by PTI's sit-in, he added. The petitioners in their pleas stated that the sit-in would also disrupt business activity in the city, besides disturbing the normal life of the citizens.
They also prayed the court to issue directives to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to ban telecasting of interviews of PTI chief. After hearing the arguments, the court summoned Secretary Interior, IGP Islamabad, Chief Commissioner and District Magistrate on Thursday.
