Punjab Assembly Defers 6 Resolutions

The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday deferred six private members resolutions due to absence of relevant ministers or movers
The House turned down other resolutions regarding fixation of route for ambulances on Metro Bus track.
The chair got annoyed when most ministers were not found to answer queries by lawmakers during the Question-Hour session. He warned that if any of the ministers was found missing on the day when he was due to give answers about his department, he/she would be held answerable.
On a point of order, PML-N lawmaker Azma Bukhari suggested the chair to ban the entry of such ministers in the house for three days.
Earlier, the 12th sitting of the sixth session of the current assembly started an hour and 26 minutes behind its scheduled time with Deputy Speaker Sardar Dost Muhammad Mazari in the chair.
Some 64 lawmakers were present at the outset of the sitting.
Leader of the opposition Hamza Shehbaz Sharif did not attend the sitting while PPPP's parliamentary party leader Hassan Murtaza took part in the proceedings.
He opposed a resolution moved by a PTI lawmaker seeking a ban on the sale of petrol at makeshift pumps. He said that in rural localities, people were making a living through the sale of petrol; therefore, there was no justification for putting a ban on this business.
He, however, suggested that sale of petrol in cities could be banned. The mover did not press her resolution.
Taking floor of the House, Shazia Abid of Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) urged the minister concerned to construct dualway road at Jampur bypass. She also asked for traffic signal and eye-cats installation on the proposed roads.
The chair adjourned the sitting to meet again on January 23 (Wednesday) at 11am.
