Punjab Bar Council announces boycott of courts on Wednesday

The Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) Tuesday announced boycott of court proceedings on Wednesday, Feb 21, to protest against inadequate security at courts. In a PbBC statement issued here on Tuesday, lawyers were asked to observe strike throughout the province and boycott the court proceedings on Wednesday.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2018 ) :The Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) Tuesday announced boycott of court proceedings on Wednesday, Feb 21, to protest against inadequate security at courts.

In a PbBC statement issued here on Tuesday, lawyers were asked to observe strike throughout the province and boycott the court proceedings on Wednesday.

Vice Chairman PbBC Jam Younis and Chairperson Executive Committee Bushra Qamar condemned the murder of two lawyers at sessions court and termed it a security lapse.

They demanded the government ensure foolproof security at courts to avert any such incident in future. A lawyer, Kashif Zeshan, allegedly killed his relative, a lawyer, and another colleague -- Rana Nadeem and Awais -- over a land dispute at Lahore sessions court premises on Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, the PbBC suspended the licence of the accused lawyer involved in the incident.
