Punjab Food Authority seals 12 outlets, discarded 3,750 kg stale fish in Rawalpindi

Punjab Food Authority (PFA) under its ongoing drive sealed 12 food outlets while hundreds of kilograms noxious food including stale fish, thousands of gutka's packets and adulterated pepper were discarded in various area of the city here on Monday.

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Nov, 2018 ) :Punjab Food Authority (PFA) under its ongoing drive sealed 12 food outlets while hundreds of kilograms noxious food including stale fish, thousands of gutka's packets and adulterated pepper were discarded in various area of the city here on Monday.

According to the PFA spokesman Muhammad Usman, PFA teams sealed ZK Fish Commission Agent and Nadeem Butt Fish centre for selling sub-standard fish that was preserved with the coating of hazardous chemicals while 3,750 kg stale fish were also discarded.

The PFA also sealed two each godown of gutka and betel-nuts (Chaliya). He said the sale of both products is strictly prohibited in Punjab. Enforcement teams of PFA confiscated 13,575 One-to-One gutka and 4,000 JM Gutka sachets from the spot, he said.

Similarly, food authority shut down two grinding units producing adulterated pepper and spices, and failed to maintain the hygiene working environment, he added.

The use of adulterated pepper is health-fatal for human and causes cancer and stomach diseases,the spokesman informed.
