LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-August 13rd, 2024) In a major move to address the challenges faced by female teachers, Punjab’s Minister of Education, Rana Sikandar Hayat, has introduced a new work schedule for women educators in government schools across the province.
Effective after the upcoming summer vacations, female teachers will now enjoy two days off per week.
Additionally, their daily working hours will be adjusted, with the school day ending at 2:30 PM instead of the current 3:00 PM.
This change is particularly aimed at easing the workload of female teachers, many of whom balance their professional duties with household responsibilities.
Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said that the decision was made in light of the difficulties reported by female teachers, and the new schedule is designed to provide them with much-needed relief.
“We understand the dual responsibilities that many of our female teachers shoulder. By granting them two days off per week and reducing their working hours, we aim to support them in managing both their professional and personal lives more effectively,” the minister said.
A formal notification outlining these changes will be issued soon, ensuring that all government schools in Punjab implement the new schedule promptly after the summer break.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Punjab government to improve working conditions for teachers and enhance the overall quality of education in the province.
