Punjab Land Record Authority to provide ownership deeds at E-Sahulat centres of NADRA

The Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) and National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) signed an agreement at Model Town, here Wednesday.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Feb, 2018 ) :The Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) and National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) signed an agreement at Model Town, here Wednesday.

According to the agreement, the services of obtaining ownership deeds of public properties at NADRA's 3700 E-Sahulat centers will be provided to the people. Director General Punjab Land Record Authority Cap.

Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif who was the chief guest of the ceremony, termed the agreement as a welcome step adding that it would facilitate 5.5 crore farmers of the province.

"Today is a historic moment with regard to the prosperity of the farming community as it will save time and ensure transparency through dexterous use of information technology," he observed. He said, when they came to power in 2008, the project was moved forward speedily and the project was completed with the collective efforts and 23,000 villages were computerized.

This project was a milestone initiative and with its completion, the 150-year old Patwar culture had buried to a large extent. Keeping in view the rush of the people in these centers, he said, different proposals were pondered over by the government and the agreement signed with NADRA was a part of it.

Now, 3700 E-Sahulat centers of NADRA would also provide services for obtaining ownership deeds and this process would be started in next two weeks. Similarly, this facility was also available in 17 Khidmat centers of the Punjab government along with 400 centers of Bank of the Punjab.

He said the Punjab government was also giving technical assistance to other provinces and Azad Kashmir government for implementation of this. Shehbaz Sharif said, Pakistan Muslim League-N government had adopted unprecedented steps for the development of agriculture sector.

"Farmers are getting fertilizers at half the price for the last three years while the Punjab government is also giving subsidy to the tune of billions of rupees to the electricity-run tube wells.

It is for the first time that government is giving interest-free loans to small farmers. The Punjab government has provided interest-free loans and it is indeed a historic step. Similarly, he said, the Punjab government had provided 20,000 tractors to farmers at subsidized rate and Rs 200,000 per tractor were paid by the Punjab government as a subsidy.

He also thanked the Chairman NADRA for the agreement. Later, replying to questions by media persons, the chief minister said, directions had been issued for the computerization of urban lands and work would be speedily done over it.

He said, they had transparently served the people and therefore, they should not be afraid of anything. He said, Rs 70 billion were saved in Saaf Pani Project. To another question, the chief minister said, it was the responsibility of NAB to trace out corruption; bring the corrupt elements to task and it had to play its role.

NAB was active in Punjab but it was not so active in other provinces and who was responsible for it, he asked and said that accountability should be indiscriminate and based on justice.

Shehbaz Sharif asked about responsibility of the institutions and said that all the institutions had to fulfill their obligations while remaining within the constitutional limits.

Parliament was a supreme institution having representation of four provinces and its powers were fully explained in the Constitution. "Executive has to fulfill its duties while the courts are required to play their role.

Parliament has the necessary authority to legislate and it has to play its role. If there are any black sheep, then holding of their accountability is the responsibility of their institutions. If there is any corruption at the lower echelon of the judiciary, then the same should be noticed by it.

Answering a question, the chief minister said, every possible step had been taken to protect the sugarcane farmers. Orders have been issued to arrest the sugar mill owner found responsible for exploiting the sugarcane farmers but he had run away to some other province.

"We will bring this sugar mill owner to the court of law," he pledged. Asked about the public-hanging of the murderer in wake of Zainab murder case, he said, apex courts had been requested to guide in this regard.

To a question put forth about praise of Chief Minister Punjab by Pervez Musharraf, Shehbaz Sharif said, he kept this matter buried in his heart for a long time now but disclosing it today after an interview of Pervez Musharraf in recent weeks.

Musharraf replied to a question, during his interview, that he did not offer premiership to Imran Khan or Chaudhry Nisar. However, when he was asked about Shehbaz Sharif, he replied that it was his desire that Shehbaz Sharif would have been the Prime Minister.

He said, he and Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had meetings with him and Ch. Nisar was not present in the meeting, when the issue of premiership was discussed and it is true that Pervez Musharraf offered premiership to him.

"But I made it clear to Pervez Musharraf that democratic system does not run like this. Parliament is there and democratic systems are not managed like this. I even asked him that if you have any grievance, then I can arrange your meeting with Nawaz Sharif, and am ready to play my role in this regard.

Musharraf said OK, I am going to Sri Lanka and arrange my meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif upon return. I shall also arrange my necessary notes in this regard, Musharraf further said. There should be complete harmony between political and military leadership for development.

That is why; I always remain a strong supporter of effective coordination between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. I even said to him that this thing should also be kept in mind that the person, who cannot be loyal to his party, how he can show allegiance to some other body.

Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and DG Punjab Land Record Authority Zafar Iqbal also spoke on the occasion. Revenue Minister Ata Manika, Dr. Umar Saif, Chief Secretary, Chairman PLRA Rana Babar Hussain and high officials of Punjab government as well as NADRA, were also present on the occasion.
