Punjab launches “School on Wheels” & Mobile Library initiatives

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jul, 2025) Punjab government on Sunday launched “School on Wheels”, “Library on Wheels”, and a Mobile library Project to foster a culture of reading among children across the province.

According to a private news channel, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting education in remote areas of the province.

The “School on Wheels” project will operate through solar-powered electric rickshaws, bringing basic education directly to children in far-flung areas.

These mobile schools will include foldable chairs, a canopy for shade, and teaching material, with teachers conducting classes in open spaces within neighborhoods and villages.

Children will also receive free books, educational toys, and painting supplies to make learning engaging and interactive.

In parallel, the “Library on Wheels” initiative will provide children access to a wide range of reading materials beyond textbooks.

These libraries will operate from colorful mini-vans, which will visit various localities, parks, and open grounds, offering books in urdu, English, and science, along with children’s magazines.

The Mobile Library, part of the CM’s “Parho Gay To Barho Gay” (Read to Grow) vision, will be established in modern buses equipped with seating arrangements, bookshelves, and study tables.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat gave a comprehensive briefing on the projects, highlighting their potential to bridge educational gaps in underprivileged areas across the province.
