Punjab Minister for industries visits RCCI

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th August, 2016) : Punjab Minister for Trade, Industry and Investment Chaudhary Muhammad Shafiq visited The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) here on Saturday.

M. Naseem, former Presidents, Anjuman e Tajran Representatives, Sheikh Hafiz, Shahid Ghafoor Paracha, Arshad Awan, members of the Rawat Industrial Management Board and RCCI executive Committee, among others were also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the Provincial Minister appreciated the RCCI's efforts for establishing an Industrial Estate and looking after the whole project without any government financial assistance.

The Minister said that Punjab Government is very vocal and supportive on public private initiatives. He said that Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif has a vision to promote industry in the region to overcome unemployment and to generate income and boost business activities.

The minister assured his full cooperation to remove all hurdles to upgrade and develop Rawat Industrial Estate.

He said that the estimated cost to upgrade and bring it as par other industrial estate, an estimated cost around Rs 3 billion is required.

He asked RCCI and the management board to compile a comprehensive report on it and send it to Punjab Industrial Estate Department. The importance of Rawalpindi region has been increased due to the upcoming CPEC project and this also doubled the importance of Rawat Industrial Estate.

The Minister also visited the site and appreciated the efforts of RCCI. Earlier Acting President Saqib Rafiq gave a brief presentation to the minister and informed that Rawat Industrial Estate has an area of 5882 Kanal with 1356 Industrial plots.

It has 164 operational units, 75 under construction and 35 partially closed. The major units are Pharmaceutical, Steel and Plastic. He said that an alternative route/link road construction is required for smooth entrance and exit.

Upgradation of roads, Sewerage plant, water supply, extension of Sui Gas pipeline, bank branch and sub post office can help to boost the industrial activities in this estate and we are hopeful that Punjab Government will provide full support and cooperate with us.
