QAU Organises Conference On "Area Studies In Contemporary World"

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Oct, 2016 ) : A conference themed "Area Studies in Contemporary World," was held here Thursday aimed at understanding contemporary issues in world politics and the role of area study centres to develop understanding about the issues.

The two-day conference was organized by Area Study Center for Africa, North & South America Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad here at National library of Pakistan. Vice Chancellor Quaid-e-Azam University Prof Dr Javeed Ashraf was the chief guest on the first day of the conference.

Dean Faculty of Social Sciences QAU Prof Dr Sayed Wiqar Ali Shah, Director (Research) Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mubeen Maher, Acting Director, Area Study Center University of Balochistan Dr Alam Mengal, Director Area Study Center, University of Peshawar Dr Sarfraz Khan, Director Area Study Center (Far East & South East Asia) University of Sindh Dr Hammad Ullah spoke on the occasion, while faculty members and students were present.

Director Area Study Center QAU, Prof Dr Noman Sattar gave a brief introduction of the event. He also highlighted some main features of Area Study Center for Africa, North & South America Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU).

Chief guest Vice Chancellor QAU Prof Dr Javeed Ashraf in his address thanked the participants and the speakers for their valuable participation in the event. VC QAU admiring the hardwork and steps of Director Area Study Center, hoped that Dr Noman will continue this hard work under the guidance of new Dean Faculty of Social Science, Prof Dr Sayed Wiqar Ali Shah.

Dr Javeed emphasised this type of steps essential for the well being of academia and it should be continued in future. The conference would conclude on Friday. APP/tsw/azm
