Quorum Issue: Punjab Assembly Adjourned

The Punjab Assembly was adjourned due to lack of quorum here Thursday.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2018 ) :The Punjab Assembly was adjourned due to lack of quorum here Thursday. The House could not take up legislative business appearing on the order of the day.

The first sitting of the 35th session of the current assembly was started two hours and five minutes behind its schedule time with Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal in the chair. As many as 30 MPAs were present at the outset of the sitting.

During the Question-Hour, provincial Ministers Sheikh Allauddin, Industry, Investment and Trade, Choudhry Sher Ali Khan, Energy and Waheeda Waheeddudin, Women Development replied to queries by lawmakers.

The standing committees on Revenue and Relief presented its report to the House.

Upon opposition's demand of resignation from Federal Minister for Foreign Minister, the Speaker in his ruling said, since the matter was a federal subject, the opposition should record its protest at federal level.

JI lawmaker Dr Wasim Akhtar walked out from proceedings in solidarity with sugarcane growers and did not return to the House till adjournment of the sitting. PTI lawmaker Murad Raas pointed out the quorum that led to the ringing of bells for five minutes.

However, the quorum was still incomplete after the bells and the Chair adjourned the sitting again to meet again on next morning (Friday) at 9am.
