Rain-thunderstorm To Continue In Upper Parts, Central Punjab

ISLAMABAD, Jan 6 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Jan, 2017 ) : Rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at isolated places upper parts of the country besides central Punjab during next 24 hours while cold and dry weather to persist elsewhere in the country.
Foggy conditions are likely to continue over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during night and morning hours. Rainfall is likely in Islamabad, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad divisions), Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan divisions), FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during this time span.
A westerly wave is still affecting upper parts of the country and likely to persist till Saturday, an official of Met office told APP. During last 24 hours rain-thunderstorm with snow over the hills occurred at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala divisions, Islamabad, KP, FATA and Kashmir, while at isolated places of Quetta division and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Weather remained cold and dry in other parts of the country, however, foggy conditions prevailed over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh.
Rainfall recorded during this time span remained KP: Malamjabba 20mm, Pattan 17mm, Saidu Sharif 14mm, Parachinar 13mm, Balakot 12mm, Kalam 09mm, Kakul, Peshawar 08mm, Lower dir 06mm, Dir 05mm, Risalpur 03mm, Cherat, Chitral, Drosh 02mm, D.I.Khan 01mm.
Kashmir: Kotli 16mm, Rawalakot 15mm, Garhidupatta 14mm, Muzaffarabad 12mm, Punjab: Mangla 15mm, Murree 13mm, Jhelum 10mm, Gujrat 07mm, Kamra 04mm, M.B.Din 03mm, Islamabad (ZP 02mm, Golra, Bokra, Saidpur 01mm), Rawalpindi (Chaklala, Shamsabad 01mm), Mianwali 01, Gilgit-Baltistan and Chillas 01mm.
while recorded snowfall over hills was Murree 12 inch, Malamjabba 10 inch, Kalam 05 inch, and Parachinar 03 inch. Minimum temperatures recorded on Friday were Gilgit-Baltistan (Skardu -08�C, Gupis -06�C, Astore -03�C, Bagrote, Hunza -02�C), FATA: Parachinar -05�C, Upper KP (Kalam -03, Malamjabba, Dir -02�C), Kashmir: (Rawalakot -01�C), north Balochistan (Kalat -01�C), Quetta, Gilgit 01�C, Chitral 02�C, Muzaffarabad 05�C, Islamabad, Lahore 09�C, Peshawar, Multan 11�C, Hyderabad, Faisalabad 13 and Karachi 14�C.
