Rain To End Cough, Decreases Threat Of Smog

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Dec, 2018 ) :After a prolonged dry spell, the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad received light rain fall of the winter on Monday bringing the temperature down.
Talking to APP,District Health Officer Dr Zeeshan Ahmed said the rain would hopefully end dry cough, cold, chest and throat infections and other health problems caused by the dry spell.
The intermittent rain from Sunday night not only had decreased the threat of smog in the city, he said, adding if continued in the coming days, it would further decrease the smog in December.
Dr Zeeshan said that burning of garbage on roads, factories emitting smoke and smoky vehicle were main causes of smog.
He said that smog might affect the human health during the start of winter season due to the change of climate and environmental pollution.
He said tha promotion of tree plantation was vital for avoiding smog and checking environmental pollution.
According to the PMD, in morning spell, the city received around 14 mm at Chaklala and 10 mm at Shmasabad of rainfall while more rain with snowfall over hills is expected at isolated places of Rawalpindi division during the next 24 hours .
A westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country and is likely topersist during next 48 hours
