Rajan Pur, Mirpur Chosen To Sensitize On Honour Killing

National Commission on Status of Women (NCSW) in collaboration with National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) has initiated 3-year project under which the masses would be provided awareness to end honour killings and implementation of the law in this regard.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Nov, 2018 ) :National Commission on Status of Women (NCSW) in collaboration with National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) has initiated 3-year project under which the masses would be provided awareness to end honour killings and implementation of the law in this regard.

An official of the Commission told APP that the project would educate people in 56 districts of the country and initially it had started from Rajan Pur and Mirpur districts.

He informed the predominant causes of honour killings in 2015 were domestic disputes, alleged illicit relations and exercising the right of choice in marriage," .

Most of the 1,096 victims were shot.

Over recent years Pakistan has taken significant steps to put an end to the menace.

Marvi Sarmad a human rights activist said that crimes against women, particularly honour killings, is the mindset and it was the need of the hour to transform society in to a tolerant and educated one.
