Rehana Leghari Elected Sindh Assembly Deputy Speaker

KARACHI, Aug 15 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Aug, 2018 ) :Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Rehana Leghari was elected deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly here Wednesday during the session presided over by Agha Siraj Durrani, the re-elected speaker of the house.

PPP's Durrani, earlier in the day, was elected speaker clinching 96 votes against 59 bagged by his opponent Javed Hanif, the joint candidate of the opposition benches.

Nadir Magsi, a member of the provincial assembly representing the treasury benches, served as presiding officer to oversee the polling process with Khurram Sher Zaman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf as polling agent for the opposition's joint candidates Javed Hanif and Rabia Azfar Nizami for the two positions respectively.

MPA Nasir Hussain Shah of the PPP facilitated the process as polling agent for his party's candidates.

Rehana Legahri is the fourth woman deputy speaker of the provincial assembly.
