River Indus in Low Flood at Taunsa Barrage

Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has reported River Indus flowing in Low Flood at Taunsa Barrage and all other main Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Aug, 2018 ) :Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has reported River Indus flowing in Low Flood at Taunsa Barrage and all other main Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal.

According to daily FFC report on Tuesday, actual river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela Dam is at its Maximum Conservation Level (MAL) of 1550 feet and Mangla reservoir at 66.70 feet below its MAL of 1242.00 feet which 1175.75.

Present combined live storage of three reservoirs which is 9.189 MAF (67.17 per cent of the total storage capacity of 13.681 MAF).

According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), yesterday's Well Marked Monsoon Low over Northwestern Bay of Bengal (India) today lies over Northern Orissa (India) and has weakened into Low.

With regard to other systems, yesterday's trough of Westerly Wave continues to prevail over Northern parts of Pakistan. Weak Seasonal Low still persists over Northwestern Balochistan and is a source of weak moist currents from Arabian Sea, which are penetrating into upper parts of Pakistan upto 2000 feet.

For the next 24 hours, mainly dry weather is expected over most parts of the country as predicted by FFD, Lahore. Nevertheless, isolated thunderstorm/rain is expected over upper catchments of all the major Rivers besides over Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala and D.G. Khan Divisions of Punjab and Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat and Bannu Divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the same period. No significant change in existing weather system is expected during next 48 hours.
