Rivers Indus, Kabul Run In Low Flood, Medium High Flood Likely In Rivers Chenab, Jhelum

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Aug, 2018 ) :The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said River Indus at Kalabagh and River Kabul in Warsak-Nowshera Reach are flowing in low flood.
According to daily FFC report on Sunday, medium to high level flows are expected in River Chenab while medium level flows are expected in River Jhelum and local nullahs (tributaries of Rivers Ravi and Chenab during next 24 hours.
All other main rivers including Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal.
The actual river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela and Mangla reservoirs are at elevations of 1535.23 feet and 1161.75 feet respectively i.e. 14.77 feet & 80.25 feet below their respective maximum conservation levels of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00 feet.
Tarbela, Chashma & Mangla reservoir's present combined live storage is 7.531MAF (55.
05 % of the total storage capacity i.e. 13.681 MAF).
According to FFD, Lahore, yesterday's trough of Westerly wave over Northern Afghanistan today lies over Northeastern Afghanistan.
Seasonal Low still persists over Northwestern Balochistan.
Moist currents from Arabian Sea are penetrating into upper parts of the country upto 5000 feet.
Under the influence of prevailing weather system, scattered thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls is expected over the upper catchments of Rivers Chenab, Ravi & Sutlej alongwith Punjab (Lahore, Rawalpindi & Gujranwala Divisions) during the next 24 hours.
Scattered thunderstorm/ rain with isolated moderate falls may also occur over the upper catchments of Rivers Indus & Jhelum, besidesPunjab (Sargodha & Faisalabad Divisions) during the same period. Wet spellis likely to continue during the next 48 hours.
