Road Safety Awareness Stressed

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Oct, 2018 ) ::SSP National Highways and Motorway Police Chaudhry Ghulam Jaffer said road safety awareness was vital to avert untoward incidents on roads.
Addressing the road safety workshop organised by National Highways and Motorway Police as chief guest, SSP Chaudhry Ghulam Jaffer said driving of vehicle without getting training is risky and untrained people should avoid from driving.
He said motorway police had awarded over 6000 certificates to people after imparting driving training in Multan sector. He urged people to use seat belts during driving and avoid sitting kids on front seat.
He said they were utilising all resources to provide relief to citizens on motorway.
He informed that all motorway police officials had taken training of first-aid to provide initial medical assistance in case of road traffic emergency.
He said coordination among departments was necessary, adding that motorway police were extending collaboration to Rescue 1122 and Punjab highway patrolling.
DSP City traffic police Attia Naheed said major accidents occur due to negligence of big transport as they don't take care of rights of small vehicles.
She said education regarding traffic rules should be started from home and educational institution's role was also important.
District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Dr Kaleemullah said that parents should educate their children about importance of traffic rules.
Later, first-aid boxes were distributed among transporters.
