Rs 20.5 Billion For Water Supply & Sanitation Allocated

The Punjab government has allocated Rs. 20.5 billion for water supply and sanitation and hygiene programme under Stunting Reduction Programme in 11 districts of Multan, Bahawalpur and D.G Khan divisions in the current fiscal year.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Oct, 2018 ) :The Punjab government has allocated Rs. 20.5 billion for water supply and sanitation and hygiene programme under Stunting Reduction Programme in 11 districts of Multan, Bahawalpur and D.G Khan divisions in the current fiscal year.
The Punjab government has decided to undertake key initiatives in water supply and sanitation including launch of "Clean Water for Healthy Life" project and Insaf Programme for Water Supply and Sanitation in rural areas, according to the budget 2018-19 document.
The government would also augment water supply of Rawalpindi base Chahang Dam source and rehabilitate 781 dysfuntional rural water supply schemes.
The funds have also been set aside for construction of Surface Water Treatment Plant at B.R.B Canal near Ravi Sython.
The government would also construct waste water treatment plants in Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Multan under Public Private Partnership (PPP).
