Sabika Shaikh's Funeral Prayer Offered In Karachi

Sabika Shaikh Pakistani girl student shot dead in United States of America on May 18 by her school fellow, was buried here Wednesday morning.

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2018 ) :Sabika Shaikh Pakistani girl student shot dead in United States of America on May 18 by her school fellow, was buried here Wednesday morning.

The body was brought by flight PK-708 at Jinnah International Airport in the wee hours today. Before handing over it to the family, Air Security Force contingent presented salute to Sabika Shaikh's body covered with the national flag.

USA Consul General in Karachi John E Warner, and other important political and social personalities were also present. The body was buried in Azeempura graveyard, Shah Faisal Colony. The funeral prayer was offered at Hakeem Saeed Ground at the University Road.

It was attended by Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Pak Sarzameen Party Chief Syed Mstafa Kamal, other leaders from different political parties and social personalities, along with Sabika's family and relatives and a big number of general public.

Sabika Shaikh, from a lower middle class family of Karachi, was studying in USA under Youth Exchange and Study Scholarship Programme. After completing the ten-month study programme, the late Sabika was scheduled to return to Pakistan on June 9, 2018.

Sabika's father thanked the government and media for their support. He said his daughter was a martyr and that Pakistani students should not be scared to go abroad for their higher studies. On the occasion, Sindh Governor said the incidents of terrorism in academic institutions of America had become a common feature and USA government should take the required steps to overcome it.
