A 13-year-old girl, Areeba, present in the car received six bullets while Areeba’s mother Nabeela received four and her father Khalil received 13 bullets.
Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th January, 2018) The initial post-mortem report of those killed in the Sahiwal incident has been released.
According to the post-mortem report, driver Zeeshan received 10 bullets.
A 13-year-old girl, Areeba, present in the car received six bullets while Areeba’s mother Nabeela received four and her father Khalil received 13 bullets.
Just as the post-mortem report was released, there was an outrage among people against the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials who blindly opened fire at the car.
The four people present in the car received a total of 33 bullets. One bullet hit minor Umair’s leg, injuring him.
Four people including two women were killed during an action by CTD in Sahiwal on Saturday.
Reportedly, the incident occurred at Qadirabad where a team of CTD Lahore, taking action against a suspected car, shot dead two men and two women.
Later, the CTD team took the bodies, children and other valuables from the vehicle. However, the team later on dropped the children at a filling station.
With the alleged shady encounter on a highway in Sahiwal district, a big question mark was posed on the functioning of Punjab Police.
The victims were first declared as kidnappers and then as terrorists from a proscribed group by the police force, which raised eyebrows on the alleged shootout, followed by contradictory witnesses' narratives.
As the incident drew wide ire and condemnation, demands were also made for a thorough probe.
The relatives of those killed in the Sahiwal incident have been protesting with the dead bodies since 1am.
The relatives have staged a sit-in on the road placing the dead bodies.
The protest has disrupted the flow of traffic in the city. Long queues of cars were seen on both sides of the roads.
None of the government officials have so far reached the scene of the protest to calm down the protesters and negotiate with them.
On the other hand, protests on the Sahiwal encounter are being held in Lahore as well. The protesters raised slogans against the police while Lahore’s Ferozpur Road has been closed for traffic.
Meanwhile, Metro bus service has also been suspended in Lahore in view of the protests.
The protesters are of the view that they will continue staging the sit-in until a case is registered against CTD officials involved in the encounter.
