Sanjrani Calls For Strong Institutional Linkages Between Senate, Saudi Shura Council

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Apr, 2019 ) :Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani Wednesday said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were intertwined into a relationship having its basis in religious, social, cultural and historical commonalities.
He said that this relationship was moving from strength to strength with the passage of time.
Chairman Senate expressed these views while talking to a Saudi delegation led by Chairman of Saudi Shura Council Dr. Abdullah Bin Muhammad Bin Ibrahim Al-Shaikh here at Parliament House.
Both the leaders exchanged views on matters of mutual significance and bilateral importance.
While welcoming the delegation, Senate Chairman observed that mutual trust and confidence had been witnessed in the decades long friendship between the two sides.
Referring to the investment opportunities in Pakistan, the Senate Chairman observed that conducive environment existed for multi sectoral investment and Saudi investors can benefit from the investment opportunities.
He termed the cooperation in defence sector as highly significant, adding that the MoUs in defence cooperation added impetus to the existing ties.
The Chairman Senate happily mentioned his visit to Saudi Arabia and underscored the need for enhancing bilateral exchanges and institutional cooperation.
Sanjrani considered the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman highly important as it helped in laying the foundation for a new era of cooperation.
Chairman Senate said that Saudi investment had helped in rejuvenating the confidence of international community in Pakistan.
Chairman Senate also thanked Saudi side for participation in Asian Parliamentary Assembly Gwadar moot.
He further stressed strong institutional linkages between Senate of Pakistan and the Shura Council.
He said that Pakistan Saudi relationship was time tested and both had stood by the side of each other in times of need.
The Chairman Senate also appreciated the launching of Pakistan Saudi Arabia Supreme Coordination Council, hoping that the Council would take tangible steps for promoting political, economic, social and cultural linkages.
Chairman Senate welcomed the decision of increasing Hajj quota for Pakistanis and further reducing the visa fee saying that these steps would further help promote people to people contact.
Chairman Senate expressed his well wishes for King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz and the Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman.
Chairman of the Saudi Shura Council thanked Senate Chairman and members of the Pakistan side for warm welcome.
He said that Saudi Arabia accorded high importance to its relations with Pakistan. He agreed on boosting institutional cooperation between Senate and the Shura Council.
He said that Gwadar was becoming hub of trade and business activities and Saudi Arabia desired to explore more investment opportunities.
Pakistani side was represented by Leader of the House in the Senate, Syed Shibli Faraz, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Raja Muhammad Zafar ul Haq, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Muhammad Azam Khan Swati, Senators Sherry Rehman, Dilawar Khan, Ahmad Khan and Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar.
