
SDPI To Host Seminar To Tackle Pakistan’s Recurring Sugar Crisis

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jul, 2025) The Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) is set to host a crucial seminar titled “Sugar Crisis in Pakistan: Causes, Consequences and Cure” to recurring the sugar woes here on Monday, tomorrow.
As sugar prices surge and market instability deepens, this hybrid seminar will bring together government officials, industry experts, academics, civil society representatives and journalists to unpack the structural causes of the ongoing sugar crisis, said an official press release on Sunday.
Discussions will focus on production trends, market manipulation and potential cartelization within the sugar industry. SDPI’s policy researchers will also share evidence-based recommendations for reforming the sugar sector, enhancing transparency, and protecting consumers from future shocks.
Open to public participation both in-person and online, the seminar invites stakeholders and concerned citizens to join the dialogue and contribute to shaping long-term solutions for one of Pakistan’s most persistent economic and governance challenges.
