Secretary Excise Inaugurates Computerized Kiosk At E&T Office

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2018 ) :Secretary Excise and Taxation, Narcotics Control Punjab, Dr Ahmed Bilal has inaugurated a computerized Kiosk Machine here at Excise and Taxation Office to facilitate the taxpayers.
Talking to APP the Secretary said, the kiosks machines being installed in 22 regional offices of the province including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Gakhar, Alipur Chattah, Kamoke, Shujabad and others offices.
He informed that Punjab government is taking solid steps for the facilitation of the citizens. The purpose of installing machines in regional offices is to provide taxpayers an easy way to retrieve challan forms and assess different taxes.
The machines are being installed to minimize the interaction of the taxpayers with the E&T officials. He said, the department is also computerizing property tax records of 15 more districts of the province.
Currently six districts have a computerized record, he added. On the occasion, Director Excise Rawalpindi Tanveer Abbas Gondal, Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) Motors, Sohail Shahzad, ETO Property, Riaz Hussain Qureshi, ETO Admin, Numan Khan and other officers were present.
The Secretary said, the Department had planned to install computerized machines at regional offices across Punjab to facilitate the citizens in motor vehicle verification, professional tax assessment, taxpayers in self assessment and issuance of challans.
Tanveer Abbas informed APP that the kiosks machines would also be installed in Murree, Taxila and Gujar Khan in Rawalpindi division to facilitate the citizens. Some areas where the property tax record had been computerized, property challans are being issued with an exclusive pin code.
The taxpayers can get a print of the challan with self assessment via kiosk machine by typing the pin code. The challan would be submitted to the excise offices, he added. Later, in a meeting the secretary was briefed about recovery of the revenue including property, motor, professional taxes, excise fee and entertainment duties in four districts of the division including Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal and Attock.
He was informed that the Rawalpindi district has succeeded to collect over Rs 2.4 billion against the target of over Rs 3.9 billion set for 2017-18 with 63 percent revenue collection. Appreciating efforts of the teams the secretary directed the Excise and Taxation Officers to accelerate their ongoing campaign against tax defaulters.
