Secretary Punjab Urges Citizens To Cooperate With Govt's Emergency Safety Services During Monsoon Season

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jul, 2024) Secretary of Emergency Services Punjab Dr. Rizwan Naseer Friday urged upon citizens to cooperate with government's community-based online emergency safety services programme during monsoon season.

Talking to ptv news channel, Secretary said Punjab's emergency response plan has been activated to ensure a swift and effective response to emergencies during the monsoon season.

He said the government has launched a community-based online safety training sessions that will be equipping citizens with essential skills to handle emergency situations.

He emphasized the importance of citizen cooperation with emergency services 1122, urging residents to take an active role in ensuring their safety and the safety of those around them, adding, with the online training program citizens can learn vital techniques, such as first aid, emergency evacuation procedures, and flood safety measures, enabling them to respond confidently in crisis situations.

He further explained that by working together with 1122, citizens can help minimize risks and ensure a safer, more resilient community during the monsoon season and beyond, he added.

Responding a question, Secretary announced that the Punjab government has also initiated the training of health staff for the planned air ambulance service, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at revolutionizing emergency medical response in the province.

This comprehensive training program, conducted in collaboration with international experts, will equip healthcare professionals with the specialized skills required to provide critical care during air transport, he added.

The training covers advanced life support techniques, aero-medical evacuation procedures, and flight medicine protocols, ensuring that the medical team can handle complex emergencies with precision and care, he added.

The air ambulance service was being launch which will significantly enhance access to emergency medical care, particularly in remote and hard-to-reach areas of Punjab, he mentioned.

By combining rapid air transport with expert medical care, the Punjab government under the dedicated leadership of Maryum Nawaz Sharif will reduce response times, improve patient outcomes, and save lives, he mentioned.

The trained health staff will be deployed on state-of-the-art air ambulances, equipped with cutting-edge medical equipment and communication technology, to provide seamless emergency medical services to the people of Punjab, he highlighted.

To another question, he appealed to citizens to take timely emergency steps to avoid emergencies during monsoon rains, emphasizing the importance of proactive measures to ensure safety.

He urged residents to stay informed about weather forecasts and warnings, and to take necessary precautions to secure their homes and surroundings.

This includes clearing drains and gutters, trimming tree branches, and removing loose outdoor items that could become projectiles in strong winds, he advised.

He also advised citizens to avoid traveling during heavy rainfall, and to stay away from flooded areas, power lines, and standing water, which can be deadly.

Additionally, he reminded residents to keep emergency phone numbers handy, including the 1122 helpline, and to have a first aid kit and essential supplies, such as food, water, and batteries, readily available.

By taking these simple yet crucial steps, citizens can significantly reduce the risk of accidents, injuries, and losses during the monsoon season, and help ensure a safer and more resilient community.
