FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Dec, 2017 ) :Experts at a seminar called for rooting out the menace of corruption from the society by becoming self-accountable and promoting honesty which will move the country to the new height of progress and prosperity.
They addressed a seminar on anti-corruption held at New Senate Hall, University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) here Monday. Chairing the session, UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar said that the people indulged in corruption because, they increase their standards and expenses beyond their incomes.
He said that corruption was the base of all social evils that damage the development and prosperity of the country. He viewed the honesty is the best tool to get success in the life and hereafter.
He said that awareness must be developed among the segment of the society regarding the menace of corruption. He added that with the passage of time, the moral, financial and intellectual corruption was increasing in the society.
He said that islam was the religion of peace and give us complete guideline to spend a balanced life.
He called for promoting habit of speaking the truth in the society. Dean Faculty of Agriculture Dr Muhammad Amjad Aulak said that teachers and parents played a pivotal role in the character-building of any society.
He urged the people to become honest, hardworking and pay their duty with dedication. He added that if intellectuals become corrupt, it means that there was no hope of getting rid of the menace.
Principal Officer Public Relations and Publications Prof Dr Jalal Arif said that corruption affects countries and undermine institutions. He said there was the need to change people attitudes because negative behaviors works as catalysts of corruption.
He added that human attitude needs to be worked out to bring positive changes. He said that there was a dire need to bring changes in behaviors by getting guidelines from Islam. Senior Tutor Dr Athar Javed and Dr Muhammad Tahir Siddiqui also spoke on the occasion. They staged a walk commenced which started from Admin Block and concluded at Faculty of Social Science.
