Seminar On "Road Safety" Held In Karachi

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jan, 2019 ) :Institute of business Administration (IBA) Community College Khairpur on Thursday organised a seminar to create awareness about the importance of abiding road safety rules.
Addressing the seminar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) Sukkur sector, Qamar Shahbaz said that millions of people die each year in road accidents, resulting in permanent disabilities.
He said that Motorway Police have always maintained the standard of road safety which is also always acknowledged worldwide.
He said that road traffic crashes, should not be accepted as inevitable because they were, in fact, both predictable and preventable.
He said the probability of accidents can be reduced in a number of different ways.
The DSP informed that in 80 percent of motorcycle accidents, lives can be saved if riders wear helmets. Every motorcycle rider should wear a helmet, even the children riding pillion, he added On the occasion, Principal IBA Community College Zubair Ahmed Mughul lauded the efforts of motorway police, by calling it a disciplined force that has managed highways very well.
Later, NH&MP police also distributed helmets among the motorcycle users.
