Senate Body Dismay Over Poor Performance Of PTDC

Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat Tuesday expressed displeasure over the performance of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) and said that the profit of only Rs 1.1 million showed by this organization was not according to the business.
The committee meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood here at Old PIPS Hall, Parliament Lodges.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Sep, 2018 ) :Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat Tuesday expressed displeasure over the performance of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) and said that the profit of only Rs 1.1 million showed by this organization was not according to the business.
The committee meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood here at Old PIPS Hall, Parliament Lodges.
The Committee members suggested Public private partnership could improve the performance of PTDC and government should lease the motels and hotels for better profit.
The members said PTDC motels are located at outstanding places like Bahawalpur, Moenjodaro, Khuzdar, Birmonglasht, Panakot, Chamman, Taftan, Ziarat, Jaltarang, Chakdara,, Phandar,Ramalake, Satpara, Skardu, Sust, Taxila, Torkham and Wagha adding that unluckily PTDC was not properly attracting the tourists.
Committee Chairman Senator, Talha Mahmood said Pakistan is a beautiful country and tourists from all over the world are interested to see the beauty of the country, however due to ill-management, the tourists face problems.
He said Committee would write letter to Prime Minister to inform about the situation of PTDC as its assets are valuable for the nation and government should take actions about its future.
The Committee member Najma Hameed said "We all are interested for better future of this tourists organization which is face of Pakistan."The committee member Senator Rubina Khalid said the parliament should decide whether the corporation should transfer to provinces under the 18th amendment of the constitution or stay with the Federal government.
The Committee member Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi also called for taking decision of future of PTDC as soon as possible to make it a healthy and profitable organization.
