Senate Body Expresses Concerns Over Loss Of Aquatic Life Due To

ISLAMABAD, Jan 4 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 04th Jan, 2017 ) : Senate Standing Committee on Ports and Shipping on Wednesday expressed concerns over the loss of aquatic life due to polluted water being released into the sea at Karachi.
The committee met here at Parliament House under the chairmanship of Senator Muhammad Ali Saif. Member of the committee including Senator Kalsoom Parveen, Senator Mir Kabeer Ahmed Muhammad Shahi, Senator Muhammad Yousaf, Senator Taj Haider and Senator Muhammad Daud Khan Achakzai also present on the occasion.
Secretary Ministry of Ports and Shipping Khalid Parvaiz, Chairman Karachi Port Trust Vice Admiral Shafqat, Chairman Gawadar Port Authority Dostan Khan Jamaldini and other senior officials briefed the committee.
The committee was informed that due to inclusion of polluted water into the sea also affecting people health. The committee was informed that the best way to keep sea clean and neat, the polluted water should be stopped.
The committee also stressed on resolving the problems being faced by the fishers as they are living here from centuries. The committee also recommended that the proper accommodation and employment should be arranged for the fishers.
Chairman Gwadar Port Authority said that East Bay, Gwadar Airport, Vocational Institute, business Complex, Break Water and construction of Port five birth are included in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
