
Senate Body On SAFRON Meets

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th july,2016) : Meeting of Senate Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) met here with chair Senator Hilal ur Rehman. The committee got briefing by the FATA secretariat on ADF rules and audit reports regarding ADF of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) and Mohmand Agency for last six months and detail briefing by political Agent NWA on the collection of sources of ADF alongwith last one year detail of collection and utilization and bank statements. Members of the committee have express grave concern over the collection of double tax by the FATA secretariat and recommended that this double tax should be abolished.
Senator Taaj Afridi said that tax collected by people of the FATA and Agencies should be spent over the welfare of the people of the areas. The committee sought report of the tax collected from the people of FATA and also recommended that tax deduction on the edible items should be abolished. The Political agent told the Senate body that during 2014-15 the Waziristan Agency was closed 90 percent adding that Rs 874 millions were allocated and the work was started five months ago and 55 schemes had been completed. The meeting was attended by the Senators including Muhammad Saleh Shah, Aurengzaib Khan, Haji Momon Khan, Taaj Afridi and Sijjad Hussain Torri.
