Senate eulogize services of Bano Qudsia; prays for eternal peace

ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Feb, 2017 ) : The Senate on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution to pay homage to great writer Bano Qudsia and eulogize her services is the arena of art and literature over the decades.

This House expresses its profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of famous Pakistani novelist, playwright and short story writer Bano Qudsia who was also known as Bano Aapa, said the resolution adopted by the House.

Bano Qudsia was born on November 28, 1928 in Firozpur, in the British India. Her family migrated to Lahore after the partition of India. She began writing short stories at very early age while studying in class five.

She graduated from the Kinnaird College Lahore and then joined the Government College Lahore to do her Masters in urdu literature which she completed in 1951. Bano Qudsia was married to the famous writer Asfhaq Ahmed and together they set up a home that was an exemplary Pakistani Home where each and every one was welcomed with open heart.

Late Bano Qudsia�s novel Raja Gidh is considered as modern Urdu classic. Among her more prominent writings are Aatish-i-zer-i-paa, Aik Din, Amer Bail, Asay Pasay Chahar Chaman, Chhotaa Sheher Baray log, footpath ki Ghass, Haasil Ghaat and Hawa Kay Naam.

Her most famous plays include Tamasil, Hawa ke Naam, Seharay and Khaleej. In her literary work as well as in her life one can find deep spirituality and close connection to the creator. She was a legend in her lifetime, the House resolved.

It was also noted that �Bano Aapa,� among many distinguished awards that were given to her had secured the Sitara-i-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan. In 2010, she was awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz by the Pakistan Government for her services in literature.

In 2012, Bano Qudsia was awarded the Kamal-e-Fun award, a lifetime achievement award for the year 2010 by the Pakistan academy of letters. In 2016, the GCU�s Old Ravians Union at its annual reunion conferred on her a lifetime achievement award.

The same year, the Pakistan Life Care Foundation also awarded the lifetime achievement award to Bano Qudsia. She died on February 04, 2017 at the age of 88. Bano Qudsia will continue to live forever in her literary work.
