Senator Siddiqui Slams PTI For Disruptive Senate Tactics, Vows Opposition Oath-taking To Proceed

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jul, 2025) Parliamentary Party Leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), In Senate, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, has slammed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for its disruptive tactics, asserting that opposition members in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will proceed with their oath-taking ahead of the Senate elections, despite attempts to hinder the process.
Accusing PTI of “unconstitutional and undemocratic behavior” in obstructing the oath-taking process, Siddiqui drew direct parallels with the party’s earlier attempts to derail the no-confidence motion that led to Imran Khan’s ouster on 10 April 2022.
In a post shared on his official X handle, he asserted that such tactics would once again fail.
He further claimed that PTI’s current conduct echoes the disruptive actions previously employed by its founder—citing the controversial roles of Qasim Suri and President Arif Alvi in subverting the parliamentary vote.
He further remarked that the latest developments have reinforced the perception that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) “is not a party for democratic institutions, but one for streets, intersections, riots, and violent protests.
He also questioned PTI’s approach to political engagement, asking, “What kind of understanding is this with opposition parties when their members are being obstructed from oath-taking?”
He concluded by pointing to past conduct involving Qasim Suri and Arif Alvi, suggesting that the current strategy is a continuation of efforts led by PTI’s founder to undermine parliamentary proceedings during the no-confidence vote.
