September Crucial For Dengue Spread

RAWALPINDI, Aug 28(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Aug, 2017 ) ; District Officer Health Dr Amir Sheikh Monday said no dengue patient has been reported from the city while four patients including three belong to the Federal capital and one is from Swat.
He said that from January to August 28 around 600 dengue suspects were brought to city hospitals among them only one was tested positive who was discharged after treatment in February. The DHO warned that September is crucial for dengue spread therefore all departments must remain fully alert to cope with any situation.
He said Rawalpindi is a sensitive area regarding spread of dengue. Dr Amir said that in wake of dengue outbreak in Peshawar, health department has declared the Pashto speaking localities as high risk areas vulnerable for spread of dengue.
He said as large number of people daily come from Peshawar, the Pashto speaking localities of Pirwadhai, Fauji colony,Dhoke Hassu,westridge and Kohinoor mills areas have been declared high risk areas.
The DHO said fogging and surveillance has been lengthened in these areas while anti dengue spray is also being carried out at the bus terminals. He said dengue is under control in Rawalpindi and health department is on high alert to cope with any situation.
Dr Amir called upon the residents to keep an eye on junkyards, schools and under construction buildings which lead to spread of dengue larvae and leave no place wet or with stagnant water. APP/tah/sh/mkz
