Sharifs release: PML-N to celebrate Youm-e-Tashakur after Ashura

Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz will not take part in any political activity until the Chehlum of late Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.

Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th September, 2018) Following the release of party supremo Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Muhammad Safdar, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced to observe 'Youm-e-Tashakur' (Thanksgiving Day) after Ashura.

Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz will not take part in any political activity until the Chehlum of late Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.

On the other hand, Maryam Nawaz has decided to enter parliamentary politics by contesting by-election from NA-127, Lahore. Maryam Nawaz had decided to contest from the same constituency before she was sentenced to jail in the Avenfield reference.

After Maryam’s arrest, covering candidate Ali Pervaiz Malik had contested the election from NA-127 and won. He will now resign from his seat so Maryam Nawaz can contest the by-election.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday suspended conviction of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar awarded by National Accountability Court in Avenfield corruption reference and ordered their release.

A two-member bench of Islamabad High Court comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb gave the judgment on petitions filed by Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt (retd) Safdar challenging the Avenfield verdict against them.

They arrived at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore by a special plane after being released from Adiala Jail.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leaders Hamza Shehbaz Sharif, Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Ghazali Saleem Butt, Hafiz Mian Nauman and other senior leaders besides a large number of party workers were present outside the airport to receive their leader.

Later, the caravan of Nawaz Sharif reached Jati Umra.
