SHC adjourns hearing of petition against Murad Shah to July 18

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jul, 2018 ) :The Sindh High Court here Thursday adjourned hearing of the petition challenging acceptance of former Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah's nomination form to July 18.

During the hearing the Additional Advocate General informed the court that the notice could not be served to Shah who was busy in the election campaign. The petitioner Syed Jalal Mahmood Shah, who heads Sindh United Party, contended that Shah had submitted fake affidavits about his dual nationality in 2008 and 2013 general elections.

Shah, who is SUP's candidate for PS 80 Sehwan in Jamshoro district from where the former CM is also contending, claimed that he only gave up his Canadian nationality in 2013.

The petitioner referred to a supreme court's order to argue that Shah had been disqualified.

He prayed the court to uphold decision of the RO who had rejected Shah's nomination on the same basis while setting aside the tribunal's order.

The SHC had earlier put on notice Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Provincial Election Commission (PEC) and the RO of PS-80 for July 12.
