Shehbaz asks police officers to live up people's expectations

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -6th Sept,2016) : Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday vowed to continue efforts to end murder of justice and said the police were being given modern weaponry and training.

Addressing as chief guest the passing out parade ceremony of Punjab Police College, Sihala, he said personnel were inducted in the services purely on merit adding that the PML-N had laid the foundation of the recruitment in police and other sectors purely on merit basis in 1998.

He expressed the hope that police officers who were selected on merit would follow justice and merit in the practical life. He said the Punjab government had paid special attention towards improving the image of police for transformation of thana culture.

He said discipline, training, politeness and dealing with crimes in professional manner was the hallmark of Punjab police. He said that PML-N was committed to provide cheap and prompt justice to the citizens and in this regard a number of steps had been taken to change the traditional working of police.

He advised fresh officials of Punjab Police to carry out their job responsibilities without giving any pressure either from the government or any other instrument.

The Chief Minister directed newly recruited the police officers to fight against terrorism honestly and serve their duties by assisting other departments as well.

He reiterated the government's resolve to further strengthen the Punjab Police for protection of the people saying the police would be made to adapt to ever growing technology. The Chief Minister expressed his joy to be present on the occasion of passing out parade on the 51st Defence Day of Pakistan.

He said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government would develop the 'Lahore Safe City Project' at a cost of Rs 12 billion which would be four times bigger and low-priced than that of Islamabad.

The chief guest was presented the guard of Honour and inspected freshly turned out contingents. Inspector General Punjab Police Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera termed the enrolment of educated youth in police as crucial to country's prosperity.
