Shehbaz, Imran, Maryam Got Clearance To Contest From Lahore

PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz, PTI Chairman Imran Khan, PTI leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, PTI leader Abdul Aleem Khan and his wife Kiran Aleem Khan on Tuesday got clearance to contest elections from Lahore.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jun, 2018 ) :PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz, PTI Chairman Imran Khan, PTI leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, PTI leader Abdul Aleem Khan and his wife Kiran Aleem Khan on Tuesday got clearance to contest elections from Lahore.

The nomination papers of PML-N President Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and his covering candidate Hamza Shehbaz were accepted by the Returning Officer for NA-132 (Lahore). No objections were filed against the acceptance of nomination papers of Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz. Hamza Shehbaz had also been allowed to contest from NA-124 and PP-146.

The nomination papers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan were accepted by the Returning Officer for NA-131 (Lahore). The Returning Officer accepted the nomination papers while dismissing objections filed against Imran Khan candidature.

Maryam Nawaz had been allowed to contest elections from PP-173 while the Returning Officer dismissed objections against acceptance of her nomination papers.

The nomination papers of Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq were accepted for NA-129.

Aleem Khan's nomination papers for NA-129, NA-131, PP-148 and PP-158 were accepted by the Returning Officer concerned whereas his wife Kiran Aleem's nomination papers were also accepted from PP-148. Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed had been allowed to contest election from PP-160.

The scrutiny of nomination papers concluded today which started last week on June 12, after the process of receiving nomination papers from prospective candidates.

According to the revised election schedule issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan, the last date for filing appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers by the ROs is June 22. The last date for decision on theappeals by tribunals is June 27. Revised lists of validly nominated candidates will be published on June 28 whereas the last date for withdrawal of candidature is June 29. The final list of contesting candidates is expected to be published on June 30.
