Shehzad Terms UK-Pak Agreement On Money Laundering Major Development

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Sep, 2018 ) :Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability, Mirza Shahzad Akbar Monday termed the agreement of United Kingdom (UK) and Pakistan on checking money laundering cases a major development for both the countries.
Talking to private news channel, he said the two countries agreed to track down corruption.
He said strong bilateral cooperation was needed to curb the crimes like flow of illegal money and terrorism.
He said Nigeria had used civil proceedings and recovered $ 14 billion amount as per this law or agreement from the UK.
Mirza Shehzad Akbar said Pakistan was adopting two aspects of the agreements first one criminal proceeding and other civil proceeding. Many cases were registered in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and more then two billion Dollars were pending in United Kingdom which could be recovered by following the civil proceeding, he added.
He said Pakistan was ready to sign such agreements with other countries as well to bring back its money.
