Sheikh Khurram Elected PSRMA Chairman

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -24th Sep,2016) : Sheikh Khurram Ishtiaq has been elected as Chairman of Pakistan Steel Re-Rolling Mills Association (PSRMA) while Mian Muhammad Hammad Azhar elected Senior Vice Chairman, Asmat Pervaiz Malik and Kashif Ayub elected Vice Chairmen for Lahore and Karachi circles respectively.

Those elected Executive Committee Members for Lahore Circle are Mian Ahmad Hassan, Mian Muhammad Ashraf, Mian Muhammad Ejaz and Dawood Khan, and the EC members for Karachi Circle are Ghulam Ali Bhatia, Iqbal Jafarani, Siraj Chatoor and Ameer Ali Kazani.

Results of PSRMA election were announced in the PSRMA Annual General Meeting held here at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Steel industry leaders and a large number of steel industry businessmen were present.

Earlier, Pakistan Steel Re-Rolling Mills Association newly elected office-bearers called for downward revision of electricity and gas tariff.

They said that sales tax General Order No. 18 and notices of further tax at two percent issued to the steel industry should be withdrawn as the payments of sales tax made under special procedure of sales tax are full and final.

They said, the value of billet to be specified in special procedure of sales tax 2007 at USD 400 per metric ton for valuation purpose at import stage. They said that SRO 01(I)/2012 dated 02-01-2012 should be restored for special procedure of sales tax by extending its facility i.e.

refund/adjustment of sales tax on import of plant and machinery. Just before the announcement of final results, the out-going Chairman presented a detailed report about the challenges faced by re-rolling industry during preceding year.
