SHO Among 5 Suspended

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Oct, 2018 ) ::City Police Officer (CPO) Ashfaq Ahmad has suspended five police officials including Station House Officer (SHO) Lundianwala police station for torturing a man who died in police custody on October 10, 2018.

Police spokesman said here Thursday that Lundianwala police had arrested Ghulam Murtaza of Deenoaana district Nankana for investigation in a case but later the accused died in police custody during interrogation.

Relatives of the deceased staged a protest and alleged that the police tortured the deceased to death while the police claimed that he died due to heart attack.

The body was sent to mortuary and now postmortem report confirmed the accused was tortured which caused his death.

Therefore, the CPO took serious notice of the incident and immediately suspended SHO Lundianwala police station Abdul Jabbar, Chowki In charge Buchiana sub-inspector Khizer Hayat, and other officials including Nawaz, Abdul Wahid and Shabbir Hussain, spokesman added.
