Sindh LG Minister Welcomes Fed Govt's Announcement Of Development Packages For Karachi, Hyderabad

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Oct, 2018 ) :The Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani has welcomed the Federal government's announcement of providing Rs. 50 billion development package for Karachi and Rs. 20 billion for Hyderabad.
Addressing a press conference at Hyderabad Development Authority's (HDA) Secretariat here Sunday, the minister said the center should fulfill its promise by releasing the budget timely.
He pointed out that during the last government of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) the funds which the center had to provide for S-III sewerage and K-IV water supply projects in Karachi were excessively delayed.
"The cost of S-III project increased from Rs18 billion to Rs. 36 billion due to delayed completion of the project," he claimed, adding that similar cost hike had occurred in the K-IV project as well.
The minister told that he has decided to meet the chairpersons of all the local bodies in Sindh including Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's mayor after his meeting with Mayor Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Waseem Akhtar in recent days.
Ghani said he wanted to resolve all the problems including the salary problem being dealt with by the employees of Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Hyderabad.
The minister was dismayed by depreciation in the value of rupee against Dollar saying that the inflation would increase as a consequence in the country.
He acknowledged that many municipal employees specially the sweepers were drawing their salaries without discharging their duty.
Ghani told that the automation of record of the LG department and the municipalities had been started in order to make the data of LG employees and their funds available online.
He expressed hope that the automation would help track the ghost employees and maintain check on the expenditures."In the past a mafia made fake appointments and posted or removed officials on the basis of nepotism," he said tacitly referring to Muttahida Qaumi Movement.
The local leaders of PPP and officials of the LG department accompanied the minister at the press conference.
