Six Dead As Train Hits Bike Rickshaw

MULTAN,Jan 6 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Jan, 2017 ) :As many as six persons including five students and a rickshaw driver were killed,while six others sustained injuries as a train hit a motorcyle rickshaw near Jalalpur Morr Lodhran,about 40 kilometres away from here on Friday morning amidst thick fog at level rail crossing.
According to Rescue 1122 sources, a motorbike rickshaw carrying private school students attempted to cross the track at Jalalpur Morr (Lodhran) but it was hit by Karachi bound Hazara Express amidst thick fog.
The sources said that six of them died on the spot while other six riders sustained serious injuries and were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Lodhran. All the victims belong to Memberwala Khooh mouza Kundi Lodhran, they said.
The deceased included: Sajjad s/o Ishtiaq, Irfan s/o Salman and four unknown,while the injured included Mushtaq Ahmad s/o Allah Buksh, Arslan s/o Salman, Wajahat, Saqlain, Yousuf and Danish.
District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Lodhran Dr Majid told APP that a train hit the rickshaw in the morning and confirmed that six persons were killed while six others also received injuries.
Divisional Commercial officer (DCO) Multan,Nabeela Aslam told APP that 12-down Hazara Express was heading to Karachi when it hit a rickshaw this morning.She added that eight persons including seven students and the motorbike rickshaw driver have died so far,while another seven including a passer-by received injuries in the accident.
She informed that the gate guard at the level railway crossing Afzal and train driver and Assistant driver Iftikhar and Tauqir have been arrested.
