Steps Taken To Provide Essential Items At Fixed Rates

LAHORE, June 6 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Jun, 2017 ) : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that effective measures have been taken to provide essential items on fixed rates to the people during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to a handout issued here on Tuesday, he said that Punjab government has given relief to the people in shape of Ramadan Package which worth more than Rs 9 billion. The people had been provided relief in the real sense in shape of subsidized flour for which Rs 8.78 billion subsidy had been given.

It is heartening that the people have been fully benefitting from this Ramadan Package. He said it was the responsibility of the administration to ensure ample supply of essential items in Ramadan Bazaars as well as in the open markets at fixed rates and warned that he has been personally supervising the steps taken for providing relief to the people.

He made it clear that no one would be allowed to play with the interests of the people or indulged in hoarding and profiteering. Strict legal action would be initiated against such elements, warned the Chief Minister.

While issuing directions to the cabinet committee for price control, the Chief Minister said that different steps relating to providing relief to the people under Ramadan Package should continue consistently. He said that the Punjab government had given special powers to price control magistrates for action against profiteers and hoarders throughout the province.
