
STFP Launches Cleanliness Drive In Hill Areas

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Augst,2016) :Sustainable Tourism Foundation Pakistan (STFP) has launched a cleanliness drive in various hill areas of Naran, Kaghan, Shogran and Swat to raise awareness among tourists. Talking to APP Rana Aftab President of Sustainable Tourism Foundation Pakistan (STFP) said, STFP has stepped up its cleanliness campaign to combat the plastic menace. He said that complaints relating to tourists abusing scenic spots have started mounting. He said that the beauty of places such as Saiful Muluk, Shogran, Mansehra,Swat ,Naran Kaghan were being polluted by irresponsible tourists. "Summer is viewed as the worst from the environment and pollution point of view in various hill staions as tourists left trash in streams.
" Prof Rabia Qadir said. As the season on its peak the district administration and the Department of Tourism are evolving ways to promote responsible tourism. At the same time, concern is growing over the irresponsible activities of insensitive tourists. "Majority of them think nothing of leaving behind the discarded plates, cups and packets, apart from the leftovers, environmental problems have escalated," A housewife Sana Khan said. Boards erected at prominent places appealing to the visitors to protect the environment are being ignored. "If the visitors do not cooperate, the authorities concerned should evolve other ways to ensure that they obey the rules."
